My favourite class at school was Art. At home I was surrounded by creativity thanks to artistic parents. As an adult Mum, Dad and I would head off to night & day time Art and Pottery classes in Werribee and Geelong. However in those days we mostly taught ourselves! For a long time I have been guilty of not using a talent that I was both born with and enjoy. My time has now arrived which is exciting and frightening at the same time. So here goes ......
Acrylic on canvas is my present medium.
When I look at my inspiration for painting I realise I've been surrounded by artistic and creative family, friends and acquaintences forever! Mum and Dad were artistic, my children are very imaginative and creative, and my Partner is a artist, albeit a reluctant and modest one! He has encouraged me and allowed me to flourish in an environment of support and ideas. He has meticulously built furniture by hand, and recently made the most beautiful wooden tool box for my son Alex. Having these people as part of my support network is a major reason for my success as an Artist. Thankyou to them all. Their love is my rock.
The Aussie landscape from the dry Victorian Mallee to the pristine, white sandy beaches of Tasmania. Also brave, compassionate and inspirational leaders and people; scenes and places begging for an Artist's interpretation. The more meaning a subject or scene has for me, the better the experience of conveying that art canvas - for all I hope!
Vincent van Gogh once said - 'If you hear a voice from within saying you are not a Painter - then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced.'
